Cancer Care Javea December Fair events

moon walkWe’re delighted to bring you the latest news from Cancer Care. As always, the team has been hard at work raising more urgently needed funds to finance our Cancer Care nurses. The nursing team is devoted to supporting, without charge, those whose lives have been affected by cancer, but financing this annual cost of €100,000 remains a huge challenge.
This year we’ve held some very popular events, including our memorable Honky Tonk Hoedown in October that will be talked about for many months to come. The country music and dancing event was a sell-out and certainly lived up to expectations, raising an amazing €3500! Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun, and to all of our sponsors for their generous raffle gifts.
November saw our annual 5km MoonWalk from the port to the Arenal and back again. It was a great success and over 150 people took part, raising an impressive total of €3425. We really appreciate the support of everyone who came along and also those who donated gifts and raffle prizes. See you all again next year!
November was also the time for a concert at the OK Corral Corral in Benissa Campo, with live music by the OK Band. Proceeds from the door and bar (manned by our volunteers) benefited Cancer Care, and we are grateful!
We’ve got more events lined up that you’ll definitely not want to miss. On Saturday, December 6th the Jávea Association Christmas Fair will be held at Jávea Port. This fair is organised by Jávea town hall and stalls by many local charities will be on display. We’ll have mulled wine, mince pies, chocolate cake and lots of goodies as well as garments for sale from our two Jávea shops. Please do come and see us; it’s a great event and you’ll find lots of inspiration for Christmas gifts on display.
On Sunday, December 14th the XIC School Festive Fair is open from 10:00 – 15:00. The new school is just next to El Campo Restaurant, located at Calle Lago Victoria 3-5, 03738. There’ll be plenty of gift ideas and fun games to enjoy at the fair. Cancer Care will have a stand, so do pop in and see us.
Our last news for this month is that our lead Nurse Jayne has retired. We wish Jayne much happiness for the future, and thank her for her loyalty and dedication. Rest assured, our nurses will continue with the tradition and tireless work ethos that Jayne had started, offering critical cancer care support at times when it’s needed the most.
Our drive to raise funds to provide this much-needed service continues. Without your help, none of this can happen, so once again we say ‘thank you’ to our loyal supporters and volunteers – it’s really appreciated. We’d also like to thank the staff at the Focus magazine for providing generous publicity of such a deserving cause. Look out for more news in the next issue! And happy holidays to you, however and wherever you celebrate. The Cancer Care Committee.
