Ambitious Rhine Cycling Challenge for Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre

Easy horse care cycling challenge

Easy horse care cycling challengeAndrew J Daniels MBE, a retired foster carer for children with life-limiting conditions, pianist, and choral singer, is setting off on an extraordinary journey to cycle the length of the River Rhine in June 2025. This ambitious endeavour will span 820 miles from the river’s source in Switzerland to its mouth at the Hook of Holland, all to raise funds for the Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre in Rojales, Spain.

Cycling Challenge

Andrew, who has been a dedicated volunteer, tour guide, and volunteer coordinator at the rescue centre for over five years, is passionate about helping the centre’s founders, Susan and Rod Weeding, care for the horses and donkeys they rescue. These animals have often endured lives of neglect and abuse but now find sanctuary at Easy Horse Care.
“I’m inspired by the incredible work Susan and Rod do,” says Andrew. “They not only rescue these animals but give them a new lease on life. I wanted to challenge myself while supporting their mission, and cycling the length of the Rhine felt like the perfect way to do that.”

The cycling challenge will take two weeks, with Andrew averaging around 60 miles a day. To support his journey, he will be accompanied by a motorhome that will provide rest breaks and overnight accommodation. Along the way, Andrew plans to share updates on his GoFundMe page, where supporters can follow his progress and donate to the cause.
“Every euro raised will go directly to Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre,” Andrew explains. “The funds will help with essential costs like feeding, veterinary care, and maintaining the rescue centre, ensuring the animals continue to receive the love and care they deserve.”
