The Weary Warriors Dementia Support Group, for the Javea, Moraira and Benissa areas, formed four years ago, is a free group for partners/ carers, wives, husbands and family members, who are caring for those living with Dementia or Alzheimers. If you would like to chat to others who will completely understand your situation, and can offer practical advice, do come and join us on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at the Javea Golf Club, between 10.45 and 12h. Also welcome are those whose loved one is now in a care home, or who has sadly departed.
Guest speakers are often invited to attend the gatherings, experts who can provide us with useful information about the daily care of our partners. Members are welcome to stay for as long as they feel comfortable, if leaving their partners at home. We are a friendly and sympathetic bunch, and our meetings provide light relief in our lives, while also suggesting carers in this area, who can help alleviate the not inconsiderable stresses of dementia care. We now have a retired British Psychiatrist amongst our members, who is an invaluable source of information about dementia, treatment and medication etc. Coffee and croissants are always available.
