I’ve never been part of a group that is so together as a team, supporting each other in the work that we do to raise issues which affect women. The European Union of Women here in the Marina Alta networks across municipal boundaries, women’s organisations and charities which help women. Every meeting they hold is different, opening up possibilities to help women live a healthy happy life here, whatever their nationality. I am so pleased to be a member!’
This was a message sent to Margaret Hales as President of EUW Marina Alta. The organisation is a registered NGO, one of the fastest growing women’s groups in the Marina Alta. As part of a Europe-wide network committed to democratic representation and peace, EUWMA is accredited by various bodies including the United Nations. President Margaret, encourages local involvement, stating: “We are a group which raises issues about women in our part of Spain. Through cooperation and friendship, we are helping to create a network of women who care for each other. We care that we still struggle for parity in the job market, and we care that 50 women’s lives are needlessly lost through gender violence. Together we can make our voices heard above the chatter of other issues. Together we can make progress. Join us in this journey.”
