Stage Diary North

Cantamus: The choir is looking for new members, in all voice groups, to join them. The choir sings a selection of spiritual or uplifting songs. Members are provided with all the music and tracks to learn to, so you can practice at home between rehearsals. Now would be a great time to contact Philip on 638 734 285 and he will be happy to give you all the details about the choir. They rehearse on a Monday morning 10:45 to 13:00 and will be happy to welcome you.

Canto Mundial are a truly international choir, based in Alfaz del Pí, with members from several different nations. The group sings a wide range of music from Classical to Musical Theatre in multiple languages. All rehearsals are conducted in English. After a successful year in 2024, performing and raising money for charity, Caprice ladies choir are busy working on a new programme of songs for their next concerts which will take place later in the year. Careline Theatre: This month we are bringing back to the stage the hilarious comedy play for adults, (recommended age from 16 years). “Dirty Dusting” A Sex Chat Line that really Cleans Up!!! When 3 cleaners decide to talk dirty and a hoover blows instead of sucks anything can happen. Join us for a laugh out loud, feel good evening on 9th, 10th at 8pm and 11th May at 3pm at Benidoleig Auditorium. Tickets 14€. Costa Blanca Male Voice Choir: Please join us for our well known and hugely popular SUMMER CONCERT IN THE CAVES of Benidoleig on 13-14 June. As usual all proceeds are destined for the several Charities we support. We are very busy with our 30 choir members rehearsing the songs to perfection. Our musical director John Oliver Edwards uses his inspiring leadership skills to guarantee the performance will be of a very high level. Jávea Players: Last year’s summer show revolved around a hapless dramatic society’s efforts to keep afloat. This year, still trying to attract audiences, the Chairman writes a whodunnit, but then finds himself embroiled in a real-life murder mystery, which threatens to put him behind bars. 30th June-5th July: an al fresco dinner in the old town, followed by Murder in Little Grimley in the Casa de Cultura. Pheonix Dancers: Following a busy Spring, rehearsals are in full swing for our upcoming summer spectacular which will be performed at the end of June in Calpe. The Phoenix Dancers will be appearing alongside the dancers from Marcia’s Dance Centre and friends to bring together a tale of the Deep Blue Sea! TheatreSong Collective are a choir singing all musical theatre songs. They also include solos, duets and small group numbers in their concerts. They are looking for new members, so if you want to join the choir, please contact Philip on 965 581 483 or email philip@philipashley.com.

The Vall del Pop Singers are currently inviting new singers to join them on Tuesday afternoons in Alcalalí. There is no requirement to read music and the group sing a selection of popular songs. Andante International Choir is the only choir in the Costa Blanca community devoted to sacred choral works and classical pieces. They meet in Los Montesinos at Calle San Antonio, 4 on Thursday nights from 7.15pm until 9pm. All are welcome to join them. They especially need tenors and basses. The Costa Blanca Singers continue to entertain for the public at several local venues. This month you can see them at Oasis bar and restaurant San Luis on Saturday 10th, at the La Marina International Fiesta on Sunday 11th and in El Raso for the annual fiesta at the outdoor auditorium on Saturday 17th. Crescendo International Choir: Do you like to sing? Every Monday evening Crescendo International Choir rehearses and we welcome new members. No previous experience required. Melody Makers Singing Group Quesada is an international, mixed singing group who sing a variety of music genres, from the 60s to modern day. We give lots of performances throughout the year and raise lots of money for local charities along the way. Rojales Pantomime Group: Auditions for Red Riding Hood and The 3 Little Pigs have been embraced with much enthusiasm. Who wants to be the Big Bad Wolf? Or sweet Red Riding Hood who needs a hero to save her and her feisty old Granny from being served up as lunch. The script promises to deliver twists and turns in this age old fairy tale along with some hilarious scenarios and characters who all work towards a happy ending. In late March, we were very pleased to be able to hand over our third donation of €1000 to the Union Music School in San Fulgencio, which will be put to good use in helping the school to develop the skills, abilities and the passion for music of their pupils.

The Stagestruck Players are a Murder Mystery Group who perform comedy scripts in local bars in and around Ciudad Quesada. The script is changed each month to accommodate our regular followers and we perform twice monthly. We recently teamed up with the Debra Charity shop in La Marina to raise funds for the Butterfly Children in addition to our chosen charity, the Torrevieja Alzheimer´s Association. The team at Studio32 are very excited as May has arrived and this is the month that Sister Act hits the stage at Cardinal Belluga Theatre. It has taken nearly a year to bring this show to the stage on The Costa Blanca and five months of rehearsals. First opening in California in 2006 and then in 2009 at The London Palladium, we are delighted to present such a sensational production. Some outlets have already run out of tickets although there are still some available online. Visit www.studiothirtytwo.org to secure yours. Show dates are Wednesday 28th to Saturday 31st May.
