Saturday, May 24th saw the Montgó Chorale May concert at what has become a regular venue, Iglesia de Nuestra Virgen de Loreto (also known as the Fisherman’s Church) in Jávea.
Conducted by the choir’s Musical Director Aileen Lightfoot and accompanied by Kirsty Glen, the uplifting performance, enhanced by the church’s wonderful acoustics, was enthusiastically received by the audience who showed their appreciation with very generous contributions to the retiring collection.
The Montgó Chorale May concert was in aid of Caritas, the church’s charity that does such important and worthwhile work supporting local families in need.
The wide-ranging programme included compositions by Mozart and John Rutter, an arrangement for choir of the slow movement from Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, Leonard Cohen’s well-known and much loved Hallelujah, and selection of traditional folk songs Aileen Lightfoot and Kirsty Glen also performed “Ashokan Farewell” by Jay Ungar, a piece for violin with piano.
Details of further concerts involving Montgó Chorale will be publicised in due course.
