Paws, Play and Party! Javea Feral Cats launches its Gala Day and Padel Tournament
Mark your calendars and bring your friends and family! The upcoming Gala Day and Padel Tournament on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th October 2025 brings sport, fun, food, stalls, entertainment, and fundraising for the cat colonies of Jávea.
The weekend kicks off with an exciting Padel Tournament, held across both Saturday and Sunday, inviting players of all skill levels to compete, have fun and support a great cause. On Sunday, the spotlight turns to a Fundraiser Gala Day – a lively, family-friendly event with entertainment from 1pm by Ian Hunt singer and Mick Dennison DJ and Master of Ceremonies. There are stalls of Carol’s Jams and Chutneys and Cortado’s cake stall that will be open all day, or until the jams, cakes and pastries run out! The raffle, one of our largest to date, will include luxury prizes from a holiday, fine dining meal for two at home, our fabulous wine hampers, a cocktail hamper, to a variety of vouchers from local salons, shops and restaurants. Tickets will be sold on Saturday and Sunday with prize draws on Sunday 5pm. There will be a cat-themed activity stall and volunteer stall giving you the chance to meet some of the charity’s feline ambassadors and volunteers.
We also have our newly launched 2026 Cat Calendar as part of our fundraising. All proceeds go to the Javea Feral Cat Association, a cat charity dedicated to looking after the cat colonies of Jávea. They manage a dedicated Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) programme. TNR is beneficial for the community and the cats as breeding cycles are broken, populations are gradually reduced and the annoying behaviours of breeding cats – fighting, yowling and spraying – stop. Elizabeth Trafford, President, JFCA comments: “We are in desperate need of money this year as disappointingly the funding that goes directly to the vets for TNR has just not materialised from the council! We hope that our Gala fundraising day will continue to provide enough money to continue TNR, vaccinations, buy medications and more, for the cats in need.”
Julie Keene, Vice President comments: “This is our biggest fund-raising event, and we are extremely grateful for the support of our local community, Padel 24, local businesses and all our volunteers. “This is a weekend where padel lovers, families and volunteers come together to make a difference. We look forward to seeing everyone at Club de Padel, Paris 24, Avinguda de Paris, Jávea. “Don’t miss this paw-some weekend for a purr-fect cause!“
