Walk Your Way Well with with Niamh O’Sheehan
It’s autum. A time for renewal. A time for new goals. Setting goals is exciting – it sparks motivation and gives us a sense of purpose. But the real challenge lies in staying committed when life gets busy, motivation dips, or Netflix starts calling louder than our walking shoes. That’s where clarity and consistency matter most.
Right now, I’m training for a marathon in December. Can’t believe I just typed that! On paper, it’s a monumental physical challenge. In practice, it’s a daily reminder that small, consistent actions build big results. Each run, each stretch, each recovery day adds up. And on the tough days, I remind myself that showing up is already a victory (even if my legs strongly disagree).
Walking is one of my secret tools. Not just for fitness, but for thinking. When we walk, we move our body and quiet our mind. It’s a powerful way to reflect on what we’re working toward, reconnect with our goals, and problem-solve with clarity. Plus, it’s the only time no one can interrupt me with “just a quick question.”
So how do we stick with goals?
Be specific. “Get fitter” is vague; “Run 5km” is clearer.
Break it down. Big goals are just small steps stacked daily.
Track and celebrate. Every milestone deserves recognition (yes, new socks count). Or simply tell a friend.
Stay flexible. Life happens; adapt without quitting.
As a Positive Psychology Coach, I help people find that clarity and create strategies that work for them. If you’re ready to set meaningful goals – and stick with them – maybe I can help. WhatsApp +34 676507791
