Cantamus: The choir is looking for new members, in all voice groups, to join them. The choir sings a selection of inspirational or uplifting songs. Members are provided with all the music and tracks to learn to, so you can practice at home between rehearsals. Now would be a great time to contact Philip on 638 734 285 and he will be happy to give you all the details about the choir. They rehearse on a Monday morning 10:45 to 13:00 and will be happy to welcome you.
Canto Mundial are a truly international choir, based in Alfaz del Pí, with members from several different nations. The group sings a wide range of music from Classical to Musical Theatre in multiple languages. All rehearsals are conducted in English. Caprice ladies choir are pleased to confirm the two performances of ‘Musical Reflections’ for September – Wednesday 24th September at the Centro Social, Jalon at 7pm, and Saturday 27th September at La Merced church, Calpe at 5pm. Careline Theatre presents at BENIDOLEIG AUDITORIUM the “End of the Pier Show”. Not on the pier but at the lovely Benidoleig Village auditorium! Costa Blanca Male Voice Choir: Following the 2 extremely successful Cave Concerts in June, attended by more than 400 people, our next choir project is the weekly “Summer Sing Workshops” directed by John Edwards. All interested male singers are invited to take part in a relaxed chance to sing and try the choir without any commitment. Jávea Players: Newcomer Matías Taranto took to the stage for the first time in Murder in Little Grimley, after attending the March Stagecraft Workshop and was excellent, especially as English isn’t his mother tongue. We’re always looking for new ‘blood’ and fresh ideas. You don’t have to act. No production would ever make it to the stage without backstage helpers: scenery, props, sound, lighting, publicity, wardrobe, etc. No experience required! For details: www.javeaplayers.com.
The Phoenix dancers have been working hard during the summer. Following their successful participation in the end of year charity show for Marcia’s Dance Centre at the Diamante hotel, they have also performed at various fund-raising events for the Kabilas of Calpe in collaboration with the ayuntamiento de Calp and the Summer Fest Pirata. TheatreSong Collective are the only choir on the Costa Blanca dedicated to musical theatre. They also include solos, duets and small group numbers in their concerts. The Vall del Pop Singers are currently inviting new singers to join them on Tuesday afternoons in Alcalalí. There is no requirement to read music and the group sing a selection of popular songs. ACTS Actors Community Theatre shown here presenting a 200€ cheque for one of our donations to Help at Home, another worthy cause. We are moving on to later this year creating something outside our normal remit so watch this space. We also have plans for next Spring’s play production sourcing something to titillate and amuse you all. Internally we are organising an acting work shop hosted by a professional actor. We are always striving to improve our performance and amateur skills. What’s more it’s fun!
Andante International Choir is the only choir in the Costa Blanca community devoted to sacred choral works and classical pieces. They meet in Los Montesinos at Calle San Antonio, 4 on Thursday nights from 7.15pm until 9pm. All are welcome to join them. They especially need tenors and basses. The Costa Blanca Singers restart on Wednesday 3rd September when we will welcome new members to our singing family. We will be learning new songs and prepare for our autumn & winter performances. There is always laughter and banter in the group led by the extremely talented Martin Scattergood who brings out the very best in everyone whether a seasoned singer or new and inexperienced. Crescendo International Choir: Do you like to sing? Every Monday evening Crescendo International Choir rehearses and we welcome new members. No previous experience required. Rojales Pantomime Group: The panto group welcomed aboard their new and very experienced Director, Julia Parker. Work is already underway, at speed, to bring the group up to date and ready to tackle rehearsals early September. The end of June saw the group get together for an evening of food, music and dance. The Stagestruck Players are a Murder Mystery Group who perform in local bars to raise money for their chosen charity, the Torrevieja Alzheimer’s Association. The Comedy scripts are all original and written by Leigh Humphries, the group’s director. We are currently taking our Summer break but will be back performing regularly from September. The evening consists of a meal, the Murder Mystery performance that ends with the demise of one of the actors. After the Murder, the audience are encouraged, with guidance by either Inspector Clouseau or Detective Inspector Vera Stanhope to solve the crime. As the Studio32 company take time to enjoy the summer, preparations are already afoot for our next epic production of musical theatre 9to5. In May, we will bring this show alive at the Cardinal Beluga theatre. Our director is already working with the script, the wardrobe team are assessing costumes and the set is in the planning stage. We are so fortunate to have such dedicated teams who all pull together to make Studio32 and our shows the very best that we can produce.
