The new Committee of the European Union of Women, elected at their annual meeting in January, is already planning its activity for International Women’s Day. Margaret Hales, elected again as President, said ‘This Day, and the days around it, are very important for the women of the Marina Alta, as it gives us an opportunity to raise women’s issues in creative ways, capturing the interest of women of all nationalities who live in this area’. EUWMA will be collaborating with the women’s committees in Benitachell. Jávea and Teulada Moraira as well as holding their own event on 6 March at their usual venue of the Restaurant at Jávea Golf Club at 10.00.
‘We invite friends and acquaintances, whether you have met us before or if you are curious about what we do’ wrote secretary Kathleen Misson in their mailing to members. ‘We will be discussing ‘Women today: anger, voice and change’ Our discussions are always lively and we will consider practical issues which we all encounter, as women, in our lives’.
International Women’s Day (IWD) has been around for over a hundred years, as have many of the issues still affecting women’s achievements. Since 1911, IWD belongs to all who care about gender equality. Come and join us. Celebrate women’s achievements. Raise awareness about discrimination. Take action! See you on 6 March at 10.00 in the restaurant of Javea Golf Club.
