book review femalefocusonline qf oct19Title: The Weirdstone of Brisingamen and The Moon of Gomrath Author: Alan Garner  Publisher: Collins
These two books are a blast from my particular past. Alan Garner is held by many to be an equal to Tolkein as far as children's book are concerned.

I first found Garner's books as a eight year old boy who searched the shelves of Churchill Gardens library in Pimlico looking for something more exciting than Tin Tin and Enid Blyton. Garner did not disappoint, in fact he opened up to me a new more adult based style of children's writing.

For the first time in my life the carefree nature of children's books was replaced by fantasy writing.

These two books form a prequel and sequel and are just the sort of books for a parent to read to their offspring in an effort to open up the excitement of fantasy and soft magic stories.

Go on give them a go ...encourage your children to explore with their reading.

Keep Reading, Ivor Kindle
