cbmvc make a smileThe Costa Blanca Male Voice Choir were pleased to donate the proceeds of the collection at their carol concert in Benitachell church in December to the children’s charity ‘Make A Smile’. Choir President Mike Evans and Treasurer Roy Brown are pictured here presenting a cheque for €1000 to founder and head of the charity Tony Grande at a recent choir rehearsal in Bar Mediterraneo in Teulada.

Tony Grande said, “The €1000 kindly donated was put towards our Christmas fund and used on vouchers, gifts or outings for the children over the holidays. Any surplus of funds has  gone to educational projects.”

The Choir has suffered the death of two more long-serving members since the beginning of the year and so urgently wants to recruit new members to its increasingly multi-national ranks, which include Spanish, German and Dutch.

Marketing and Publicity Officer Vernon Pearce said, “There are no auditions to join the choir and you don’t need any previous experience – as long as you want to sing and enjoy the company of like-minded men. The language of the Choir’s repertoire is predominantly in English and although some members can read music, the majority don’t and so we have a computer software package to help learn the music, which can be used to play any part over and over again. We sing an eclectic mix of songs - everything from musicals to popular, classical to traditional.”

The programme of events for this year includes an invitation to sing at an International Choir Festival in Alfaz de Pi in May and the very popular Concert at the Cave in June. You can find out more about the choir on their website costablancamalevoicechoir.com or by contacting Mike Evans on 965 744 577 or info @costablancamalevoicechoir.com.
