Extra Portions is a new section for Female Focus in which we review restaurants that offer something that little bit extra special. Whether it’s an unusual menu, unsurpassable views, live music or stunning décor.

Watch this space to know where to spoil yourselves.

Artesano is the unique brain child of two very artistic entrepreneurs, Matthew from the UK and Ismael from Morrocco, who are both also professional photographers. Everything about the art gallery, juice bar, restaurant and cocktail lounge is aesthetically pleasing – and hand crafted. From the fabulous furniture to the fantastic food.

They are the only restaurant in the area to serve a substantial selection of food which is vegetarian, vegan and gluten free, too. As well as plenty of tasty food for the carnivores.

It’s all made with fresh high quality ingredients, using creative international recipes; modern European, Lebanese, Morroccan and North African. Their best seller is a Mexican Chicken Fahita Wrap, and you won´t be surprised when you sample it.

The boys are passionate about coffee, in fact they are full of beans about their coffee (pun intended) and proud to be often told that they serve the best coffee in Moraira. It’s also the place for fresh-pressed juices and smoothies, and if that’s too healthy for you, fear not, it’s happy hour for cocktails all dayartesanococktail long. None of that after work nonsense. Only €5 for their legendary raspberry daquiris.

The gallery exhibits affordable art and artisan gifts by local artists, rotated monthly. At the start of each month they launch each exhibition with live music and free canapés. Next launch party is Thursday 5th May at 6.30pm. The gallery often supports charities such as Make A Smile so it’s well worth a look.

Embarrassingly it took me a few visits before I realised how clever their name is. So I will save you any embarrassment. Split it down the middle, and you get Arte sano..... Get it? See what they’ve done there? Arty and healthy. Until you hit those cocktails of course.artesanoflyeranddrink

It’s not just me that likes the place. They are often number one on TripAdvisor in Moraira. Take a trip there, is my advice.

“The food is ‘una maravilla’. Very good service, and good value. The design is amazing – a very pretty bar and gallery inside”
