The Stage Diary now in its 11th year of publication is not only an important guide to what’s on in all regions but is also an on-line web introduction to potential expat’s researching community life in Spain. The diary also acts as a planning guide to assist groups avoid unnecessary clashes of production dates.
Caprice: After another successful, sell out concert in June, the ladies are looking forward to their Autumn Programme. This will include a mixture of songs with general appeal from Gershwin, Cole Porter, Carpenters and the odd madrigal. Careline Theatre: In a change to the advertised production, Careline will now be performing ‘Dirty Dusting’ this October. When faced with redundancy, a trio of OAP cleaners start a telephone sex line - and that's when the fun really begins. Costa Blanca Male Voice Choir: The choir rehearses once a week at Bar Mediterraneo in Teulada from 5.45pm to 8pm. Anyone interested are welcome to go along to their first rehearsal on 18 September at about 5.30pm to listen, talk to members, join in if you want and experience the fellowship and benefits of singing in a choir. Their first concert is a joint one with Valley Voices on 9 November, followed by their annual appearance at the Remembrance Service in Moraira on 10 November.
Jávea Players: Currently between shows - but take a look at www.javeaplayers.com for information about joining and supporting the Players, whether on the stage, behind the scenes, manning the bar, or oozing charm front of house when selling programmes. Help is always welcome with making scenery, likewise wardrobe and props. Any innovative ideas for improved publicity also appreciated. Meanwhile, singers needed for the chorus of ‘My Fair Lady’ in March 2019.
New Cardinal Theatre Group: The group, will be presenting a new show; ‘It´s ShowTime’ on 19, 20 and 21 September. A variety show full of dancing, singing and comedy. Totally Dance from Benijófar will be on stage and the children will be performing a number from Oliver. Phoenix Dancers: The dancers are taking a short break but will be available again from September. They hope all their friends and supporters have a great Summer and look forward to seeing everyone again in the Autumn. Rascals: Due to unforeseen circumstances the group have cancelled their October show. Hopefully they will be able to produce a Christmas show early December. Rojales Pantomime Group: The group’s recent summer Party in Margaritaland, an exclusive resort in Benijófar, turned into a Murder Mystery when Jack Daniels, Casanova of the pool bar, was murdered – who done it amongst the partygoers, some of who definitely had motive for murder! The culprit was revealed by Sgt Ford and the revellers were soon enjoying the rest of the party.
Sounds Familiar: The Company are in rehearsals for their next show, ‘Show Stoppers’ which will mark their 10th anniversary. Stagestruck: The group are looking for a director - do you have what it takes? This well-established Company based in Torrevieja, raises much needed funds for local charities twice a year performing original musical comedies. Skills in writing would also be welcome. Studio 32: Their recent sell-out success ‘Chicago’ raised 4,500€ for local charities and good causes. The company have now cast their next show ‘The Wiz’ and rehearsals will be in full swing starting September. The show will be staged at the Cardenal Belluga Theatre, San Fulgencio from 28 November to 1 December. Ticket reservations are available now, early booking is recommended.
